Today John (of the POW!) and Sarah (of the Soap Opera!) spoke in Cedarburg, WI. In front of the Chocolate Factory (a place so yuppie you can get two kinds of hot fudge - bittersweet or sweet), they tried to portray this charming little Wisconsin suburb of Milwaukee as needing "hope and confidence." I think not! Cedarburg is the kind of place where you poke around little boutiques and eat by a very picturesque river. The kind of place you come to with your lady friends for lunch and shopping. Not shopping of the necessary kind. But shopping of the shop till you drop kind.
It's a city with mansions built on former farmland. Professional families. It's a place people come to for family swimming or hot fudge sundaes. Not a place that was ever part of the rust belt. Not a place full of small town people struggling to put food on the table. It's a nice place to start a business. Even in hard times, you'll find plenty of shoppers and people seeking specialty candies and treats, gifts for others and little luxuries for themselves.
Cedarburg, WI. Why did McCain and Palin choose this particular little city? I think it's because Wisconsin is a battleground state and for some reason these two are more at home among upper middle-class people of luxury, people who don't need jobs or health care. They didn't go to Janesville, where auto parts people are losing their jobs. They didn't hang out with people who hunt or fish to put food on the table. They didn't talk about how to pay for education or what to do about global warming.
Cedarburg, WI, just like certain children who have been trotted out for photo ops lately, was a nice place for a photo op on a sunny September day. It was all about the photo-op. And nothing about the truth!
Just had to get the truth out!!!!
